Course Info: The course is typical rolling Bluegrass countryside. The course will start and finish on S. Brand St. in Midway and will also pass through Midway at about the 7 mile point. The course will be closed to traffic, but the occasional vehicle might require access to a horse farm or residence. Because these are narrow public roads with no sidewalk and we’re limited in the time we can keep them closed to traffic you will be required to keep a 14 minute per mile pace. This means you must be able to complete the race in 3:04 or less. If you cannot keep this 14 minute per mile pace by the 7 mile mark you will be asked to proceed to a finish area where you will still receive a finisher’s award. If you are not keeping a 14 minute per mile pace and you choose to proceed beyond the 7 mile point of the course you should not expect any support (traffic control, water, sports drink, etc.) and you will not be covered by our insurance policy since you will not be obeying the rules for this race. We ask that you please don’t put us in this position. We will have a person on the course during the first 7 miles of the race with a flashing red light on his/her back keeping a steady 14 min/mile pace. You will need to keep in front of this person during the first half of the race in order to continue onto the final half of the course. A course map can be found here.
Timing: The race will be chip timed. Timing mats will be set up at the starting line, the second turn around (Weisenberger Mill Rd), and the finish line. Please make sure you cross the timing mat at the second turn around. If this mat is not crossed, you will not receive an official time or be eligible for an award.
Awards: A custom medal will be given to each finisher. Overall and age group awards will be custom made pottery hand made by Kentucky Mudworks. Top 3 overall awards will be given to males and females. Top 3 awards will also be given to males and females in the following age groups: 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. If you are 85+, 90+, 95+ or 100+ please note this on your entry and YOU WILL GET AN AWARD (and our congratulations!). All awards are given out at the immediate finish line area as runners are finishing (there is no formal award ceremony). Due to the fragile nature of the overall and age group awards we will not be able to mail them.
